In the recent package of pipe brochures and catalogues there was an envelope of EA Cary Pipes from Toronto, Ontario. These brochures also included letters between the old pipeman and the company.
Hello
Thank you for making available this wonderful E.A. Carey catalogue, it’s a great resource. After 50 years of smoking I decided to finally give a Carey pipe a try and went to their site, but I really didn’t see anything I really liked. I ventured to eBay and looked up EA Carey NOS. Bingo !!! A non-pipe smoker had 5 Carey boxed new pipes at $25 starting bid on each, and I made a clean sweep. I
have received them and they are gorgeous. They were purchased originally in 1983, and they are literally a pipe wardrobe ! Thanks to your catalog post I quickly spotted them. I wound up with a #109 Cool Flame Billiard, a #117 straight Apple, a # 727 Shell Briar Billiard, a small Dublin mail order hammer smash offer pipe, and the “Luxury Liner”, a #701 Meer Lined Apple, Although they were deprived of their destiny by 40 years on a shelf, I fully intend to smoke and enjoy them !
