This morning I received this message from WordPress. Time has flown by since the day in May three years ago when I started rebornpipes. Many weeks and months of articles have come and been posted and the blog has grown from my own posts and refurbishing work to additional writings and work from many individuals around the globe. I want to take time to thank each of the contributors to the blog for their contributions to rebornpipes and to invite them to continue to share their work. I also want to thank the supportive readers of the blog and encourage them to share their experiences in the work of refurbishing with the rest of us. There is always more to learn and new tools and methods to work with.
Thank you all! Here’s to many more years ahead!
Steve Laug

Congratulations on three great blogging years, Steve! I’ve been addicted to the site since my first visit. It is truly without parallel. You have taught me almost everything that I know and I still have a lot more to learn. So, here’s to many more years to come!

I have been honored to be a part of Reborn Pipes since my first blog on the competitive restorations of two almost identical Jichi-mu (Chinese Chicken Wing Wood) churchwardens a little more two years ago. Both of the large, unusual bowls and shanks needed basic restoration work and new stems, and I did one while my friend and mentor, Chuck Richards, worked on the other. Needless to say, Chuck’s was the clear winner. Fortunately, a year or so later, I had the opportunity to see the one I restored and gave to the only female member of our pipe club, and realizing how much I had not known when I did that first real restore, I asked her for the opportunity to fix it up a little. The difference was striking, and I have to offer Chuck and Steve in particular — not to mention other bloggers here who know far more than I — my most sincere thanks for the countless tips and suggestions they have given me during my never-ending education in this art.
